About this tool

Phi has been applied to the human body since Renaissance artists idealised proportion. Two of the most-cited body ratios are shoulder-to-waist and total height to navel height. This test measures both from your photo and scores how close each is to 1.618.

Important context: the golden ratio is an aesthetic heuristic, not a health or attractiveness standard. Real human proportions vary widely between people and populations, and no ratio predicts how someone looks in person. Use it as a fun benchmark and a way to see which ratios you could shift with training.

How to take a good scan photo

  1. Stand 2-3 metres from the camera with your phone at chest height and your whole body in frame.
  2. Wear fitted clothing or swimwear so your outline is visible, and stand relaxed and natural.
  3. Drag each handle so it sits on the correct point of your body. Handles you move turn green, and confidence goes up.

How to read your result

Closeness 90+

Within about 4% of 1.618.

Closeness 70-89

Noticeably close - a training goal is realistic.

Frequently asked questions

Does the golden ratio really apply to bodies?
It is a popular idealisation, not a scientific law. Population averages cluster around different ratios. We show it because many people track it, but our report weighs it modestly.
