Muscle Potential Calculator
How much muscle could your frame carry? A widely used formula gives a rough ceiling.
About this tool
Casey Butt's 2009 regression derived maximum muscular bodyweight from height, wrist and ankle circumference (a proxy for bone size) at a chosen body-fat level. It was fitted to data on natural bodybuilders from the early 20th century onward.
It is a ballpark, not a promise: real potential varies with muscle-belly length, training age and recovery. Most people take 4-8 years to approach their ceiling, and gains slow sharply after the first two years.
How to read your result
We show your current weight against the estimate at your chosen body fat.
