Waist-to-Height Ratio Calculator
One number, one rule: keep your waist circumference below half your height.
About this tool
Waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) is waist divided by height. A ratio under 0.5 is associated with lower cardiometabolic risk across sexes, ages and ethnic groups, which is why UK guidance (NICE) now recommends it alongside BMI. Between 0.5 and 0.59 is increased risk; 0.6 and above is high risk.
Its big advantage over BMI is that it responds to abdominal fat and ignores muscle mass, so it is fairer for athletic and short or tall people. We also show the waist measurement that would put you at 0.5 and at 0.45.
