Body Symmetry Test

Everyone is a little asymmetric. This test shows how much - and which differences are worth working on.

About this tool

Small left-right differences are normal: most people have one shoulder slightly lower, one leg fractionally longer, one arm dominant. We measure six things from a straight-on photo - shoulder tilt, hip tilt, head tilt, arm length difference, leg length difference and how far your trunk and hips sit off your centre line.

Photo asymmetry is sensitive to how you stood. A relaxed lean, a hand in a pocket or a camera held off-centre can create differences that are not really there. Take the photo twice and compare.

How to take a good scan photo

  1. Stand 2-3 metres from the camera with your phone at chest height and your whole body in frame.
  2. Wear fitted clothing or swimwear so your outline is visible, and stand relaxed and natural.
  3. Drag each handle so it sits on the correct point of your body. Handles you move turn green, and confidence goes up.

How to read your result

Under 2° tilt

Within normal variation.

3° or more

Worth checking with a second photo; if it persists, a physio can assess it.

Frequently asked questions

Does asymmetry mean something is wrong?
Usually not. Persistent large asymmetry, pain, or a visibly uneven spine can warrant a check by a qualified clinician.
Can I fix an uneven physique?
Often you can narrow the visible gap: train the weaker side first, use unilateral exercises, improve mobility and posture habits.
