Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator
Your waist-to-hip ratio is a simple marker of fat distribution linked to cardiovascular and metabolic risk.
About this tool
WHR is waist circumference divided by hip circumference. It captures where you carry fat: around the abdomen (visceral fat, linked to higher risk) or around the hips and thighs. The World Health Organization defines abdominal obesity as WHR of 0.90 or more in men and 0.85 or more in women.
Measure the waist at the narrowest point between ribs and hip bones (or at the navel if there is no narrowing) after breathing out, and the hips at the widest part of the buttocks. Keep the tape level and snug but not compressing.
How to read your result
Up to 0.80 low, 0.81-0.85 moderate, above 0.85 high.
Up to 0.90 low, 0.91-1.00 moderate, above 1.00 high.
